FRIDAY, MAY 12

Movies in the Park: The Jungle Book (2016), Lakeview Playground. Rain site: Gernon Brown Rec Center. The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission offers family-friendly, outdoor movie screenings at NORDC parks and playgrounds across the city. Free. SATURDAY, MAY 13  

AMC Sensory Friendly Films: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, AMC Elmwood Palace 20, AMC Westbank Palace 16. AMC has partnered with the Autism Society to bring unique movie showings. Visit amctheatres.com/programs/sensory-friendly-films to confirm theater, date and time. 10 am.

StoryQuest: Boats, New Orleans Museum of Art. Professional authors, actors and artists bring the world of children’s literature to NOMA in this family program. Family activities are offered after each StoryQuest to encourage museum exploration. Free with museum admission. Ages 2-7. National Train Day Open House, Crescent City Model Railroad Club, 701 N. Lester Ave., Metairie. Visit this tribute to the evolution to the Iron Horse, from early steam locomotives to modern diesel locomotives running on the Crescent Lines. SUNDAY, MAY 14

Mother’s Day Celebration, Audubon Zoo. On the second Sunday in May each year, mothers of all ages get complimentary admission into the zoo on Mother’s Day. Free. 10 am-5 pm.
