The Friends of the New Orleans Public Library are calling on runners and walkers to lace up in support of local libraries at this year’s Crescent City Classic 10k Road Race. For the second year in a row, the organization will participate as the official “Run for It!” charity partner.

The race takes place on Saturday, April 4, kicking off at 8 a.m. at the Caesars Superdome and finishing with a lively post-race celebration in City Park. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register before the April 3 deadline.

Walkers, joggers, runners, and those who are passionate about the library, are invited to join in support of the New Orleans Public Library’s mission to transform lives, preserve history, and enrich neighborhoods—as the Friends expressed in a recent announcement.

“Some of us are slow, some are fast, but we all agree on the value of strong public libraries,” says Shannan Cvitanovic, Executive Director of the Friends. “New Orleanians love the Library, and this is a great way to gather Library supporters together for a fun day out,”

Cvitanovic hopes library advocates will help the organization reach their personal fundraising goal of $15,000. It’s noted that participants who raise more than $300 for their charity will receive a full refund of their registration. Fundraisers will receive a limited-edition Friends of the New Orleans Public Library T-shirt, Crescent City Classic baseball cap, and an entry into Charity Village at the Michelob RaceFest.
