April 29, 2020
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, 2020.
What better way to show your child’s teacher you appreciate all that they do (especially now that parents are understanding what it takes to teach their kid) than with a NOLA created one-of-a-kind gift.
Homemade Cards
Reach out to your child’s teacher and ask for their mailing address. Have your child write their teacher a card expressing their appreciation for all they do.
Bonus — parents, you write them a letter of appreciation also (now that you know how difficult their job is!).
Gift Cards
Everyone loves gift cards! Whether it’s to a restaurant/coffee or a massage/pedicure, teacher’s can use these for a night out or a relaxing (much deserved) break. Make sure you keep it LOCAL! Reach out to your class parent to find out where their favorite local spot is and reach out to purchase a gift card.
-OR- have the class parent arrange a monetary collection that can be presented to the teacher. This makes a great gift — especially when you consider most teachers fund their classrooms out of their own pocket!
Return-to-School Care Package
School might be out for the rest of the 2019-20 school year, but it’s never too early to set your child’s teacher up for success for next year!
Put together a basket of those most needed items; hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, paper towels, facial tissues, pencils, pens, etc. Again, these are items that many teachers end up purchasing for the class — have this be one less thing for them to stress about!
You can even think about returning to class after COVID-19…maybe consider a face mask made out of a fabric print that your child chooses.
Local Items From Local Businesses
Now, it is more important than ever to make sure you are shopping local! Searching for unique teacher appreciation gifts should be fun especially when you set out to only purchase items from the local mom-and-pop shops.
Here are a few New Orleans area businesses who are open and ready to supply your teacher with NOLA inspired goodies.
(Note, we highly recommend reaching out to each location directly to confirm hours of operation and availability to pick up or ship your purchase!)
