The NOLA Vegan Chef Challenge returns September 1–30, inviting diners across New Orleans to experience a month-long showcase of plant-based cuisine at 16 participating restaurants. From neighborhood staples like Juan’s Flying Burrito to fine-dining spots such as Bayona, chefs citywide will debut new vegan dishes crafted exclusively for the event.
Organizers encourage guests to sample dishes, share photos, and vote for their favorites throughout the challenge. Diners who participate by posting and tagging their meals on social media will also have the chance to win prizes and be featured online. The eventis open to everyone—not just vegans—and aims to highlight local culinary talent while promoting community connection.
This year’s challenge is presented in partnership with Plant Based Living and the Humane Society of Louisiana. Participating restaurants range from Thai Urban Bistro to GOOD CATCH and Sukeban, offering a wide variety of flavors and styles to explore.
In addition to dining, community members are invited to volunteer with the challenge, assisting with outreach, promotion, and event support. Organizers say it’s a chance to meet like-minded food lovers while helping build a more inclusive and compassionate food culture in New Orleans.
