Jefferson Parish Schools created the 9th Grade High School Choice Program (9th Grade HSCP) in 2020, where current JP Schools 8th Grade students have the opportunity to apply for a Jefferson Parish high school outside of their Attendance Zone. Since then, current 8th grade students are invited to visit their desired schools on Informational Nights with the opportunity to learn more about their programs.

9th Grade Choice High School Program Application Deadline

The application window for the 2026 9th Grade HSCP runs from February 23, 2026 at 8 a.m. through March 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. The application link can be found on jpschools.org. 

Jefferson Parish Schools states in the Application Brochure that the following requirements must be submitted when applying: 

  • Parent’s Picture ID
  • Student’s Birth Certificate
  • Current Proof of Residency in Jefferson Parish in the name of the parent completing the form with the same address entered on the application.
  • Custody Judgement/Agreement (if applicable)

*Further documentation may be requested for authentication. 

Only families interested in attending a school outside of their Attendance Zone School need to apply for 9th Grade HSCP. 

The Next Step

Once the application window is closed, families can expect to receive Application Decisions on April 15th. Families must send their Offered Seat Acceptance or Declined Responses by April 24th.
