On November 2, the Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO) invites families to get up close with some of the city’s biggest and boldest vehicles at the 13th annual TOUCH-A-TRUCK event. Taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Center, this one-day extravaganza offers children a hands-on experience with more than 20 types of vehicles, from construction trucks to emergency responders and even a helicopter.

Imagine the thrill in a young child’s eyes as he or she climbs behind the wheel of a fire truck or peeks into the cockpit of a helicopter. This event not only fuels imaginations but also builds lasting memories. “To have the chance to touch these big trucks, sit in the driver’s seat, or explore how these trucks serve our community creates lasting memories for the children and their families,” says JLNO President Tara Waldron.

For children sensitive to loud sounds or bright lights, TOUCH-A-TRUCK has a designated sensory-friendly hour from 2-3 p.m. During this time, vehicle lights, sirens, and horns are turned off, creating a welcoming environment for those with sensory sensitivities. The Beignet Fest Foundation’s Sensory Activation Vehicle will also be on-site, providing a space for decompression if needed.

TOUCH-A-TRUCK is more than just vehicles. Kids can enjoy face painting, color a giant wall, and explore the Art Bus. Families can also browse a vendor market and snap photos at the many picture-perfect setups. And for the ultimate truck-lovers’ experience, families can host a birthday party at the event—a true adventure in the midst of the trucks and machinery.

Tickets for TOUCH-A-TRUCK are $12, with a VIP option for $20 that allows early access at 9 a.m. Children one and under can attend for free. Proceeds benefit JLNO’s community initiatives supporting women’s well-being, making it an event that’s not only fun but impactful.

Supported by local sponsors like Children’s Hospital New Orleans, COX Mobile, and Crescent City Developers, TOUCH-A-TRUCK promises to be an unforgettable family day out. Tickets can be purchased at jlno.org/touch-a-truck until October 31 or at the door (no cash sales). Grab your tickets, and get ready for a day filled with exploration, honking, and pure joy!
