What is the camp’s mission and philosophy?

At Upturn Arts, we inspire “upturns”—those transformative moments of pride and achievement for young artists. Our trained staff fosters creativity in a supportive environment, ensuring these moments happen daily.

What safety measures are in place?

Our camp safety plan includes annual city inspections, regular fire drills, and lockdown procedures to ensure a secure environment for all participants, prioritizing safety and preparedness throughout the camp experience.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

1 counselor to 10 students (at least)

How are staff members screened and trained?

All staff must complete annual background checks and mandated reporter training. They undergo a week of training on social-emotional learning, youth voice, behavior management, CPR, and Youth Program Quality Initiative.

Are there opportunities for free play or downtime?

Yes, we value free play and rest time at Upturn Arts.

How does the camp handle health issues and allergies?

We work one on one with families and also have the support of Whole Village Art Therapy when needed.
