There are some great places right in town or just outside of New Orleans where dad can not only tour a cool brewery or distillery but sample the ‘goods’ as well.


Abita Brewery & Tap Room
166 Barbee Road, Covington. Enjoy a FREE brewery tour on Father’s Day and celebrate throwing it back on to how it all began with Locals Sunday. All you need is your current Louisiana ID! Tours run every half hour from 1-3 pm. After the tour, hang out in the tap room and play some games or challenge your friends to a game of corn hole in the beer garden. 


Celebration Distillation
2815 Frenchmen St., New Orleans. Celebration Distillation is the creator of Gingeroo, Gris Gris Cayenne Liqueur, and Old New Orleans Rum, America’s original craft rum! Tours of the distillery are available 7 days a week at select times. They also offer a complimentary shuttle service. 


Chafunkta Brewing Company

69123 Skybrook Road, Mandeville. Hear the story of the company’s founding and enjoy Chafunkta brews in 5oz, 10oz, 16oz and flights, keep the glass or take it TO GEAUX. Enjoy “Hump Day Trivia” each Wednesday. Doors open at 5 pm and trivia begins at 7 pm. The Chafunkta Tap Room is open on Thursday and Friday nights from 5-9 pm, Saturdays from noon-9 pm, and Sundays from noon-6 pm. 


Covington Brewhouse

226 East Lockwood St., Covington. Enjoy free tours of the brewery every Saturday from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Enjoy their flagship brews including Strawberry Ale, Bayou Bock, Pontchartrain Pilsner, Kölsch, and Anonymous IPA.


Crescent City Brewhouse
527 Decatur St., New Orleans. One of New Orleans’ premier restaurants and the only French Quarter microbrewery, enjoy food and music as you enjoy the brew and the view. The atmosphere at the Crescent City Brewhouse is warm, relaxed and festive with live jazz performed nightly by local musicians and monthly exhibits of local art. 


Pontchartrain Vineyards
81250 Highway 1082, Bush. The Tasting Room at Pontchartrain Vineyards is open Thursday-Sunday from noon-4 pm (unless otherwise noted). They offer a “classic” tasting room experience where you can enjoy a tasting flight of wines for $5/person. You are welcome to bring your own food and enjoy a picnic lunch on the patio. Children are welcome. 


NOLA Brewing Company
3001 Tchoupitoulas St., New Orleans. If you’re beer curious, NOLA Brewing welcomes you to check them out, tour the brewery, or just enjoy a taste in their Tap Room. The Tap Room is open from 11 am-11 pm, 7 days a week. Brewery tours are available Fridays from 2-3 pm, Saturdays from 2-4 pm. Tours are free and open to the public.


Urban South Brewery

1645 Tchoupitoulas St., New Orleans. Where fast-paced meets laid-back, where charm and grit mingle, and where everything’s shared. Their kid-friendly taproom is open seven days a week from Noon-9 pm. Tours are available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Noon-7 pm. $10 includes a souvenir glass and two beers.
