“Beyond books, Louisiana’s libraries offer a number of services that enrich and support lifelong learning,” said State Librarian Meg Placke, in a statement from the State Library of Louisiana. “Check Out Louisiana is another example of library membership value, giving cardholders the free opportunity to unlock the door to the venues and resources that deepen our understanding of our state’s history and culture.”

Within the first six months of the Check Out Louisiana Museums initative, the State Library of Louisiana has issued over $100,000 worth of free museum passes. The program is still expanding, and plans to continue their growth in including more libraries, museums, and cultural attractions in the state.
