Happen to be looking for something informative, fun, and FREE to do with your child today? From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. TODAY, the Ogden Museum is hosting its 8th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration.

The Museum offers free admission to everyone, inviting families to enjoy art, activism, and festivities that honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Activities include crafts, music, and opportunities to connect with the community.  

What to Expect 

Food 

La Cocinita Food Truck will be parked outside the museum and offer food for purchase.

Community Partners

BikeEasy and Whole Village Art Therapy will host tables at the museum and connect with families throughout the event. 

Art & Activities 

Families can enjoy a museum-wide social scavenger hunt, an “I Have a Dream” wall, freedom bells, civil rights buttons, recycled art projects, mini protest signs, and Martin Luther King Jr. portraits. 

Performances & Activation 

With scheduled time slots posted on ogdenmuseum.org, families can experience Little Stompers, Family Yoga with Kim Nicole, Open Mic with 826! Youth Writers, The Willow School Band, and Family Meditation with Kim Nicoles throughout the day. 

The Ogden Museum is located on 925 Camp Street in the Warehouse Arts District of downtown New Orleans. The museum highlights Southern art and is known for its large-scale original exhibitions and public events. From Southern traditions of music to literature and culinary heritage, the museum shares a wide range of historical stories from the South. 

The Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4:45 p.m. On Thursdays, Louisiana residents receive free admission.
