There’s a reason they call her the “grand dame” of New Orleans… standing tall for nearly a century with her signature fluted Corinthian columns, Le Pavillon Hotel has long been a treasured gem of the city’s Central Business District. And on April 3, 2025, this storied beauty reintroduced herself to the world in spectacular fashion—with a grand re-opening celebration that was nothing short of magic.
The night began in opulence: Guests were welcomed into the newly renovated lobby where elegance met whimsy. A towering violinist in a floor-length gown played mesmerizing tunes while trays of decadent hors d’oeuvres (including caviar-topped crab—YUM!) and champagne floated around the room. Under crystal chandeliers, we mingled with historical figures—including Napoleon “himself” and Le Pavillon’s enchanting Grand Dame—before indulging in a seafood grazing table and perfectly prepared beef Wellington inside the hotel’s elegant Bijoux room.

Following heartfelt words from the visionary team behind Le Pavillon’s $19 million renovation, we were invited to explore the themed suites, each one a portal into a different piece of New Orleans history, each dripping in luxury, creativity, and comfort.
The Suites: Fit for a King (or an Emperor)
The Napoleon Suite on the 7th floor is a regal, marble-drenched ode to the early 1800s. Gilded accents, antique furnishings, and—yes—the original Carrera marble bathtub that once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte himself all come together to offer guests a truly royal experience. Whether you’re a history buff or simply appreciate indulgent detail, this suite delivers timeless charm with modern convenience.

Upstairs, the Frenchmen Suite on the 8th floor sings a completely different tune. Inspired by the city’s lively music scene, this two-bedroom suite is made for entertaining. Its open floor plan features a baby grand piano, faux fireplace, sleek flat-screen TVs, and a dining table fit for a feast. Perfect for families seeking a chic home base—or for couples who want to toast to love in style.

And the hotel has more to offer than just two standout suites. With a variety of luxurious rooms and imaginative suites, Le Pavillon offers something for everyone. Each room features plush mattresses, blackout blinds, and Lyocell bedding, designed for guests to slip into deep, restorative sleep after a day (or night) of exploring the Crescent City.
A Stay that Delights the Senses—and the Soul
Beyond the rooms, Le Pavillon continues to surprise. At Bar 1803, we sipped inventive cocktails while enjoying spirited conversation with Napoleon himself. Throughout the evening, the hotel danced to life—literally—when the Grand Dame and Napoleon performed a ballroom number, only to be joyfully interrupted by a flapper flash mob.

But nothing embodied Le Pavillon’s heart more than its most beloved tradition: the nightly PB&J buffet. This started nearly four decades ago after a general manager heard about a father sharing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with his daughter every night. The hotel still honors this sweet ritual. Guests gathered around the spread, sipping cold milk and sharing stories as live painter, Alex “Revel” Ruiz, took over Bijoux and painted the “Belle of New Orleans” upside down (yes—upside down!) in mere minutes.
The evening ended with a jazz-filled second line parade through downtown, parasols twirling and hearts full. Le Pavillon’s new tagline—“History on its head”—rings true in every corner. From upside-down portraits in the hallways to a modern twist on historic elegance, this is a hotel that reveres its past while embracing the future.
For Parents and Families Alike
Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape without the kids or a luxurious family vacation, Le Pavillon is the perfect choice. Parents can enjoy a night of indulgence in a themed suite, toast to love at Bar 1803, and wake up to breakfast in bed. Families, meanwhile, will love the spacious multi-room options, proximity to city attractions like the WWII Museum and the French Quarter, and of course, nightly PB&Js in the lobby.
With its thoughtful renovations, commitment to storytelling, and unmistakable charm, Le Pavillon isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to experience. Book your own chapter in this reimagined classic. You’ll leave with memories—and maybe a second helping of peanut butter and jelly.
