Carnival season is over, but fish fry Fridays are back! Lent has arrived in the New Orleans area, and we’ve rounded up ways your family can participate in abstinence this season. According to the Archdiocese of New Orleans, these are just some of the many churches and clubs that are offering fish frys this year leading up to Palm Sunday. 

All Saints 

  • When: On every Friday starting at 10 a.m.
    Where: Church Hall on 300 Ptolemy St.
  • What’s on the menu: Plate of fried fish, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, vegetables, bread, and dessert 

Archbishop Rummel High School Fishing Club

  • When: Every Friday, 6 p.m. or until supplies last 
  • Where: Drive thru only on 1901 Severn Ave. 
  • What’s on the menu: Fried fish and sides 
  • Price: TBA 

Blessed Francis Seelos 

  • When: On every Friday from 5–7 p.m.
  • Where: 3037 Dauphine St. 
  • What’s on the menu: Plate of fried catfish, coleslaw, vegetables, bread, dessert, and a drink
  • Price: $15

Blessed Trinity Catholic Church 

  • When: On every Friday except March 6 & 20
    Where: 3900 General Taylor St.

Center of Jesus the Lord 

  • When: For lunch on Feb. 20 & 27 and March 6, and from 5–7:30 p.m. on March 13, 20, & 27
  • Where: 1325 Louisiana Ave.
  • What’s on the menu: Plates of either fried fish or blackened fish with hush puppies, boiled corn and potatoes; Shrimp & okra gumbo with rice, potato salad, and bread

Divine Mercy Parish

  • When: Every Friday 
  • Where: 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy., Kenner
  • What’s on the menu: Fried fish plate served with roasted Cajun potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a Cartozzo’s dinner roll drink available. Feb. 27 menu by the Men’s Club: A choice of fried fish plate or fried shrimp plate served with french fries and corn.
  • Price: $1 drinks. $15 plate. 

Holy Cross High School 

  • When: From 3:30–5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 for carry-out only
  • Where: 5500 Paris Ave. 
  • What’s on the menu: Plate of fried fish, macaroni and cheese, green beans, garden salad, bread, and chocolate cookies (for an extra $2)

Mary, Help of Christians Parish

  • When: Every Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
    Where: 600 1st Ave., Harvey
    What’s on the menu: Fish, shrimp and combo plates, all come with fries, coleslaw, hush puppies and fries. Crawfish pies and numerous types of desserts available. Dine-in or take-out.

Mater Dolorosa (Knights of Columbus) 

  • When: From 5–8 p.m. on Feb. 27 and March 13 & 27
  • Where: 1230 S. Carrollton Ave.

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary

St. Agnes Men’s Club 

  • When: Feb. 27 & March 13 and 27
    Where: the MAC, 3400 Jefferson Hwy.
    What’s on the menu: Plate with fish, shrimp, fries, coleslaw and iced tea. Other beverages and desserts will be available for purchase. 
  • Price: $15

St. Benilde Church

  • When: Feb. 20 & March 6 and 20
  • Where: 1901 Division St., Metairie
  • What’s on the menu & price: $14 fried fish plate; $14 fried shrimp plate; $14 fish/shrimp combo; $15 Thai shrimp taco; $8 seafood gumbo and $5 fries, $4 cheese pizza slice and $3 drinks available. All fried plates come with boiled potatoes, corn and bread.

St. Catherine of Siena 

  • When: March 13 and 20 from 5:30 – 7 p.m.; Feb. 27 March 6 from 5:30–7 p.m. 
  • Where: 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie; Knights of Columbus Cafeteria
    What’s on the menu: Menu varies weekly and will include fish, shrimp, or combo plate with coleslaw/salad and hush puppy, or cheese pizza. SCS Men’s Club will be serving plates, fish, shrimp, soft shell crab or combo platter with fries, salad/coleslaw and hushpuppy, or cheese pizza.

St. Clement of Rome

St. Philip Neri

Ursuline Academy

  • What’s on the menu: Fried fish plate includes two fried fish fillets, green beans, macaroni and cheese and bread. Pizza by the slice and macaroni and cheese sides are available for purchase.
