Education

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School

Who we are

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is the oldest Episcopal school in New Orleans with over 56 years of experience in educating the mind, body and spirit of young children.
Offering an environment in which children develop confidence, achieve academic success, and embrace a lifelong love of learning.

What makes us unique

The school is known not only for its intimate size but also for creating an educational environment in which every child is both known and loved by an experienced and caring faculty and staff. We strive to teach each child in a manner that builds on his or her individual strengths, interests, and abilities while at the same time fostering teamwork within the greater School community.

Small classes and caring teachers (student-to-teacher ratio approximately 5-to-1) provide a challenging learning environment where children grow intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

Faith

St. Andrew’s encourages faith formation and moral development by providing worship services, classroom instruction and opportunities for reflection and inquiry. Our students are excited about learning and about giving to others through community service.

Growth

St. Andrew’s has an intimate, attractive campus featuring six classroom buildings and two playgrounds located on South Carrollton Ave. in Uptown New Orleans. In addition, St. Andrew’s is in the process of building a new three-story, 10,000 sq. ft. classroom building that will provide classroom space for a new music room, science and math labs, homeroom classrooms, and a new multi-purpose room for indoor recess, PE, and student exhibitions and performances.

Our Students

St. Andrew’s enrolls boys and girls from Pre-K through Grade 8, offering ten years of nurturing yet challenging education that focuses on the Decade of Childhood.  St. Andrew’s has three  divisions – the Kinder Cottage (PK and K), the Lower School (Grades 1-4) and the Middle School (Grades 5-8).

Student Success

The success of St. Andrew’s students can be measured in their many accomplishments at St. Andrew’s, by the range of selective high schools — public and private — to which they gain admission, and by their record of accomplishment in high school, college, and life beyond. Over the past five years, St. Andrew’s graduates have matriculated at the following ten different high schools: Benjamin Franklin, Darrow, De La Salle, Dominican, Isidore Newman, Jesuit, Louise S. McGehee, Lusher, Metairie Park Country Day, NOCCA.

Alumni

St. Andrew’s alumni are grounded with a foundation of emotional and intellectual strength—fostered by a supportive and inclusive Christian environment—that serves them for the rest of their lives.

We hope that you will learn more about this special community, so that perhaps you and your child may become part of over fifty years of St. Andrew’s tradition here in the heart of New Orleans.
